Coaching Staff

Varsity Head Coach

Coach Angelo joined the Francis Howell Hockey staff in 2023-24 as an assistant and was tapped to lead the program for 2024-25.

He began playing hockey as a youngster in the St. Louis area and skated for Hazelwood Central during high school. After graduation, Angelo continued his playing career at University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL).

Angelo has coached at various levels of youth hockey along with the Central States St. Louis Sting program for eight years. He has also instructed at a variety of off-season camps and clinics, and holds a Level 4 Certification with USA Hockey.

Junior Varsity Head Coach / Assistant Varsity Coach

Coach Heering is entering his third season behind the bench with the Francis Howell Hockey Club. He has served as an assistant coach, served at the B Team Head Coach in 2023-24 and was named the Junior Varsity Head Coach in the spring of 2024.

Matt began his hockey playing career in the St. Louis area, playing with St. Peter’s Spirit, Twin Bridges Lightning, and Chesterfield Falcons before playing Junior A hockey in Switzerland for the Forward Morges HC.

While at Francis Howell, the Junior Varsity team has made back-to-back Final Four appearances in the playoffs, falling in the championship game in 2023-24. Matt currently holds a Level 2 Certification with USA Hockey.

B Team Head Coach / Assistant Coach

Coach Donaldson is entering his first season as a coach with Francis Howell. He will serve as the B Team Head Coach and as an assistant with the varsity and junior varsity teams.

A long-time coach with the St. Peters Hockey Club, Donaldson also serves on the Board of Directors for St. Peters as the 6U Coordinator.

Coach Donaldson currently holds a Level 4 Certification with USA Hockey.

Assistant Coach

Coach Bruer is beginning his first season on the Francis Howell coaching staff in 2024.

Born in St. Louis, Coach Bruer played youth hockey for the Valley Hockey Club and later at Hazelwood Central High School. Following high school, he attended the University of Missouri - St. Louis where he played four years of ACHA hockey.

Coach Bruer serves as an assistant coach with the varsity, junior varsity and B (Developmental) teams. He currently holds a Level 1 Coaching Certification with USA Hockey.

Assistant Coach

Coach Lindhorst is beginning his seventh season with the Francis Howell coaching staff in 2024.

A long-time coach in the St. Louis youth hockey programs, Lindhorst has coached at St. Peters and with the St. Louis Rockets.

Coach Lindhorst works with the varsity, junior varsity and B (Developmental) teams. He currently holds a Level 4 Coaching Certification with USA Hockey.
