
Vikings take down Duchesne 4-1
The Francis Howell Vikings extended one streak and saw another end in a solid 4-1 victory over the Duchesne Pioneers in St. Chuck Cup action Wednesday night.
The Vikings ran their victory streak to three, bombarding their opponent with a season-high 28 shots on goal. Senior Assistant Captain Caleb Bridges opened the scoring, with a power play goal, assisted by Junior Brayden Brandhorst with 7:32 left in the first period. Senior Keanean Bahm added a late period goal, taking a pass from Junior Charlie Jackson with just :03 seconds left in the period to put the Vikings up 2-0.
Jackson picked up his second assist of the game, feeding Senior Captain Riley Wright, whose goal at 4:34 of the second period, put Francis Howell up 3-0. Jackson's third point of the game came less than a minute later when he found the back of the net, assisted by Freshman Mason Land at 3:59 of the second period.
Howell's consecutive period shutout streak came to end with just 16 seconds left in the second period. Howell senior goalies Jack Finch and Easton Bristow had combined for 7 consecutive shutout periods prior Duchesne's breakaway goal to end the second period cut the lead to 4-1. Senior goalie Jack Finch restarted the streak in the third period, blanking the Pioneers on seven shots. Finch turned back 10 of the 11 shots he faced, earning his second victory of the tournament.
The Vikings will play their final game of the round robin bracket Sunday night. Howell (3-0-0) will tangle with Timberland (1-0-1) at 6 pm at the Wentzville Ice Arena.
